The Carbon County Railroad of Pa. Trailer Train
After years of
successful freight hauling and currently providing passenger
service to the area, the Carbon County Railroad of Pennsylvania is
providing flat car service to haul freight trailers around the
country. A trailer train will be constructed over the next
several years containing a flat car representing a Carbon County
borough with a trailer on it painted and detailed for one of the
businesses in that borough. The train was started with The Blue
Ridge pressure Castings Co. in Lehighton and will continue at a
rate of one car each year until nearly a dozen cars are completed.
The flat cars will be painted in the borough colors with the
borough name on the side and the zip code as the car number. The
trailers will all be endorsed by the businesses it represents. We
are planning to make an engine and caboose available to go with
the train.
Customers are
buying as many as 15 cars of each type. The cars, and indeed the
train have been given as birthday presents, Christmas or Father's
Day gifts or they make great collectable and conversation pieces.
Remember, the cars are limited to a one-time production. Some
people who had missed the opportunity to get the first cars but
managed to find out about the collection several cars into the
train are looking to complete their sets. The cars are now in
demand and are considered a collectable.
